Skinny girl and fat 1/4's

Tali in her New Version of Auntie's Old skirt:

She chose some nice Ric-rac to add along the bottom

raw seam (pure laziness really)

~

Nice fat 1/4's from Wells' in Latrobe

Jesse and Micah, aka "NOOOO, not another Quilt Shop boys!", chose these:

They nagged and nagged and nagged (very naggingly - YES, I know that's not a word, but you get the picture) until I said they could have them!

Flamin' blogger... and Cupboard Love etc

Blogger's "Add Image" is driving me NUTS!!!!
Does anyone else have trouble getting their Photos to load??
Its not that they won't load. It just takes so flippin' LONG!
Its a bit like that Pantene Ad. The one where they say,
'it won't happen overnight, but it will happen'.
Its taking up to 5 minutes to load ONE photo. If I try to load 5 images its around 35mins.
(this has become the norm and frankly, I'd rather watch paint dry)
Boo Hoo
:o(
Alright, enough sulking... on with the post!
Ooo, speaking of Post. I've just come back from the Post Office. It was such a buzz posting off a little parcel to Virgina US. Yay!
~
I've been sorting through some sewing room stuff lately and found a few things I'd forgotten about. These fabrics were found in a box that I hadn't even opened since moving almost 3 yrs ago. A basket of newly discovered sweeties
The best kind of 'greens' (actually I like the vegie kind too)
Dear little vintage bunnies
and vintage 'dapple grey'.
(This fabric is a bit like cheescloth -very sweet - not sure what to do with it though)
~ Some treasure's I've picked up over the last few weeks.
Salt Box

Basket

More Baskets - Yep, its official, I'm a basket case :-)

Buttons - these caught my eye 'cos they say 'stitches'

and I needed some more for my collection!

I tell you, that Chookyblue is a Saint!!!

If, like me, you have been having trouble with getting Blogger to load your images into your post (in this lifetime, that is), PLEASE, PLEASE go to Chookyblue's post about emailing pics to your posts. She has very possibly saved me from throwing in the towel.

And just because I am not really into 'pictureless posts'... ...oh, and I'm trying out the info on Chookyblue's post, here is picture of some unusual fabric.

While I found this little pearler in the box with the fabrics on the previous post, it did not always belong to me. This fabric has a history with another blogger (who is going to kill me for this post LOL)and during the late 70's was a very fashionable wrap-around-skirt. Way back then, she was a quiet girl (still is), stick thin, ABBA obsessed (She never took to the cupboard even when they were considered uncool, remaining ever faithful to this talented group) and was shaping up to be an immensly talented trombonist.

Anyway, back to the fabric.

It seems that it is going to be given new life, once again, as a skirt. Tali LOVES purple and so I have decided to turn it into a Raw-edge Skirt for her. I'm sure she'll love it, most probably because when she wears it she'll have a little bit of "Auntie" with her. I'll show you when its done!

Cheers and Thanks again to Chookyblue!

Treasure Hunting

Christine and I went treasure hunting recently.
I found some nice goodies. I love Op shops!
I almost always find a little something to add to my collection of treasures.
Some are seemingly unattractive on their own but they seem to work together.
From the Devonport Emporium:
Pressed Tin from shoestringchateau's store...
Small pink polka-dotted dish...
What an amazing place the Emporium is is!
I'll be going back!! :-)
I also found 2 lovely plates that the kids are going to give me for Christmas - so I'm not allowed to show you yet. lol (at least when you choose your own pressie you know you're gonna like it!)
Oh. I also found a gorgeous basket that I've forgotten to take a piccy of.
From the Devonport City Mission Store:
Jug..
Well loved ramekin that I've decided makes a rather nice candle holder...
Pretty Tablecloth...

Vinegar/oil jars...

and Bag from Vinnies. These fat 1/4's are from Wells' in Latrobe.

Milo came to check out what was going on

and ended up INSIDE the old BBQ!

What a wally! lol

Far too long... and ...my shabby little loo!

Well, its been far too long between posts. I just get so caught up reading about what everyone else has been doing, and so over-awed by how talented you all are, that I just don't seem to get around to posting - slack I know, but there you have it - I'm SLACK!
Life has been mad, sad, good, bad, up, down, fun, boring, sleep deprvied... I could go on, but you get the picture... life has been... normal!
Have stitched very little, have sewn quite a bit, have aquired a few yummy things, and met some GREAT people at the Quilted Crow Gathering!
One of the things I've been working on lately: My Shabby Little Loo
before...
during...
after...

and these...

new curtains for the loo

toilet spray cover
and cute Tilda style heart from my favourite book
The pretty rose fabric, used in all the above projects, is actually some cotton teatowels I picked up at Kmart for 50cents each - gotta love a bargain! Wish I'd got a few more :-(
Ribbon and ric-rac is from my stash (is it possible to have too much ric-rac? I think NOT!), lace from years ago!

Bought these yummy fabrics on the weekend.

The top 3 came from Cranberry Craft in Ulverstone, the bottom 4 from Wells' in Latrobe.

Mmmmm... ...fabric!

Found a nice new blog too. Pop on by and say "Hi" to Chris @ shoestringchateau.blogspot.com/

Off to shop we go

lynette anderson is having a gorgeous redwork giveaway. Go and check out her blog and leave a comment to be in the draw. Tripped off to Launceston with the kids and 'auntie' yesterday. First (unitentional) stop was the Cheese factory at Elizabeth Town. They had all these painted cows around the place - they were excellent! Auntie took heaps of piccies so if you check out her blog in the next few days I'm sure you'll see some of them. So after some cheese tasting...yum...We then went on to Esme's, where we bought some very yummy bits and pieces and met leanne who was working in the shop.

Fat quarters, yellow gingham sandcastle and ric-rac from Esme's

Bundle of background fabrics from Calico Crossroads, Exeter

Next stop - Donut King - too much sugar for us grown ups, but the kids, especially the boys, were happy... ...until they discovered we were going to at least two more quilt shops (and Moo sooked about not getting enough coke - insert loud wail here). So, off to the Country Quilter and also to Calico Crossroads in Exeter. The kids had a play in a great park at Riverside and we ended the day with a quick tea at Morty's and then it was time for "Home James... ...and don't spare the horses"!
